Great Way to Amoeba Marketing is Not Agile Marketing, and The Top 11 Marketing Technology Articles Curated Wednesday, 9/25/13 | The MarTech Digest
Our first crack at the study of cells in science class was the amoeba (and the paramecium). For our immature brains, we were fascinated by the amoeba as this free-flowing, shapeless blob floating through the universe with its “false feet,” taking shape based on that which surrounded them as if the environment shaped their direction. So I keep reading articles and posts on agile marketing, and how the emphasis is on measuring and adjusting with speed: get it out, is it working?, change, get it out again, and so forth. And that’s a characteristic of agile: quick iterations. But that’s not agile marketing…that’s amoeba marketing where the underlying process is free-flowing, without direction, taking its shape by external events. Agile is about process, about methodology, a structure from which you can quickly react and move on a continual basis. It’s far more paramecium than amoeba. It’s got shape. Scott Brinker does an excellent job explaining agile, which you can review here and here.
