If there’s one thing learned by the data-driven organization during 2013, it’s this: things can get out of control quickly if you’re not organized. And the two areas that can cause the greatest issues? Data and content. It’s imperative that you keep the marketing DB clean. Dirty data impacts your mail performance, your outbound efforts, duplication, reporting, mixed messages, etc. With a continually cleaned pool of contacts, your operation stays consistently efficient without interrupts. Content can get out of control very quickly, and kill your sales response rate, your nurturing efforts, and your social marketing. If you’re catering to different personas at different sales stages, while keeping your sales team satisfied with just in time content supply, you must keep content organized, tracked, and easily retrievable. As marketing technology moves the function at an accelerated rate, you can’t fly by the seat of your pants with regards to the fuel: data and content.
